Your opening checklist

  1. Start at Watchtower of Hope: enter the cave beside the stairs, take the pirate's ledger, and return to Gareth. Follow the beginner guide for this experience and gold reward.
  2. Unlock the starting town's blue shrine: approach it and press F. Follow the fast travel steps before you leave.
  3. Visit a blacksmith and strengthen your equipment; +1 needs one tempering stone. Check the beginner equipment tips before attempting higher upgrades, which can fail.
  4. Bring glowing collectibles to a statue for permanent HP increases. Keep this beginner exploration tip in mind as you travel.
  5. Upgrade life skill proficiencies with production and processing manuals. Use the recipe unlock route to find manuals and unlock more crafting options.
  6. Enter a Conflict Channel through a statue only when you want PvP. Read the PvP channel guide before switching.

Classes

You can choose Warrior, Ranger, Mage, or Berserker, each with two starting weapons and separate weapon trait trees. Compare ArcheAge Chronicles classes by the weapons you want to use.

Best Class

Mage and Warrior rank S in one current tier list; Ranger and Berserker rank A. Use the best class comparison to weigh those picks against conflicting rankings.

Gender Locked Classes

Classes are gender locked at the start of Early Access. Check which classes are gender locked before committing to a character.

Races

Your race is tied to your class: Warrior and Ranger are Human, while Mage is Elf. Compare ArcheAge Chronicles races; Berserker's exact race name is not confirmed yet.

Character Creation

You can adjust your face, hair, skin, and body, then save or load appearance presets. Use the character creation guide; an update for changing appearance after creation is planned.

Warrior

Use Longsword for parry counters, or Greatsword for offensive and defensive trait routes. Start with the Warrior class guide.

Mage

You can build around Elemental Staff or Wave Sword, with different trait and attribute priorities. Follow the Mage build guide for starting allocations.

Ranger

Choose Longbow for ranged attacks or Hatchet for mobile melee combinations. Use the Ranger build guide for the storm splitter and storm guard combination.

Berserker

Chain Battle Cry into Tremor Strike, and preserve stamina for dodges instead of extending every combo. Follow the Berserker build guide for the opening sequence.
